More
than One Name, But Only One Site: The Many Joys of URL Forwarding
by Michelle Roy; Staff writer -

Many
of our customers have expressed the need for information on
URL Forwarding. They want to know how they can optimize their
exposure with only one site, but more than one name. Here
are some of the most asked questions, and our answers to go
along with them.
Question:
I'd like to protect various versions of my company name. We've
registered more than one Domain Name. Does this mean we have
to build more than one site?
Answer:
It is wise to register various versions of the same name.
By doing so, you are protecting your company name as much
as possible. There are different things you can do now that
you have more than one domain name for the same company. The
first thing you could do is build one website under one domain
name. Your other domain names have been registered so it prohibits
others from "stealing" your name. By only using one domain
name online you are only getting the exposure for one name.
When clients or customers search for you, they will only find
your website under one name.
Or you could build and host the same site for all the domain
names you have registered. However, this could become time
consuming and costly, as you would have to pay for hosting
for all your different names and sites. This is where URL
Forwarding comes into play. URL Forwarding allows you to point
your new Domain Name to an existing website. URL Forwarding
increases your market exposure because it allows you to have
an unlimited amount of domains forwarded to your current website.
Question:
We've already developed our website but have a long and confusing
Internet Address. Is there any way we can purchase a new Domain
Name and have everything transferred over to the new name?
Answer:
URL Forwarding is the perfect solution for businesses that
already have a website online. You can keep your same site
and host it in the same place. When visitors type in your
new Domain Name address they will be forwarded to your real
website where nothing has changed. When you advertise your
company you can use your new, catchy, and easy-to-remember
web address and keep your existing website!
