Hope for someone else’s name to Expire, but Do Not Allow Your
Own

Over
19,000 domain names are expiring daily, and did you know 90%
of registered domain names are not being used? What this means
is that many of the expiring domain names are not getting
renewed, much to the benefit of domain name speculators.
The most popular Internet eviction of late: Karnes County,
an agricultural county in Southern Texas with a population
of 15,000. They failed to renew their name (as a result of
not knowing their name had reached expiry), and now a pornography
site is reaping the benefits of Internet traffic that is actually
meant for Karnes County.
This is the newest form of domain name speculation, and the
best way to get an excellent domain name that already generates
traffic. It’s legal so long as you are not infringing on any
trademarks.
If you have a popular domain name you best make sure you keep
track of the domain and renew it before the expiry date. It
sounds obvious, I know, but everyday good names expire for
various reasons.
Often the registrant of the name has gone bankrupt or has
lost interest in the online world. In other instances, the
registrant is unaware of the potential value of the name and
gives it up to save the renewal fee. Sometimes one will lose
their name unknowingly because s/he has failed to keep their
contact information up to date and never received the notice
for renewal. Or, s/he deleted or threw out the notice thinking
it was a piece of junk mail. Good names have even expired
due to incarceration and even death of the registrant.
It used to be that it was almost impossible to track a name
to expiry. Now it is easy. Expiry Corporation can help our
customers monitor both domain names they want for themselves,
and domain names they have already registered.
