Some
companies choose to email their newsletter in a text-only
format that resembles an average email. This format
also is successful because it does not resemble “junk
mail” that is often associated with emails containing
graphics and flashy amounts of color.
2.
Once you have decided what format you will be emailing
your newsletter in, it is time to decide the purpose
of your newsletter. In each of Expiry Corp.’s monthly
newsletters we aim to TEACH our customers something
about the ever-growing Internet marketplace and global
technological universe. Some months we focus on various
Internet marketing methods, while other months we may
focus on a new or interesting aspect of the Internet
or computers in general. One month we decoded methods
to place higher in Search Engines and the next we were
taking our reader on a virtual adventure through various
Travel-Related websites in an effort to help our reader/our
customer take a break from the working world and plan
the perfect (virtual) vacation.
3.
While teaching our customers something about the vast
atmosphere of the online world is our goal, we also
want to bring our customers back to our website (www.expiry.com).
We do this by offering a monthly special and by showcasing
this special in our email newsletter.
Not
only are our customers learning something that may help
them or their business, they are also being made aware
of specials and important announcements concerning our
company and our website.
4.
Once you have the basic idea of what you will
be including in your email newsletter, be it an interesting
or informative article, a list of specials, events,
or announcements, etc. it is necessary to decide who
you want to send this newsletter to. Customer-oriented
newsletters are best sent to people that are familiar
with your company, your products, or your services;
therefore, you do not/should not need to buy any email
lists that may contain lists of people who have consented
to read newsletters in their email.
Start
by collecting email addresses of your customers and
by making them aware of your website. Also, give your
web visitors the opportunity to sign up for your email
newsletter, even if they have yet to make a purchase.
You will find that many of your customers may enjoy
getting an email from your company, especially if it
serves as a reminder of any services/purchases that
they may need to make.
5.
Lastly, you must provide your email newsletter recipients
with the ability to decline receiving the newsletter.
This is best done by ensuring a statement such as the
following is placed at the bottom of each newsletter
you email:
Above all, have fun with your newsletter. Keeping in
touch with your customers can be a win/win situation
for your business and for theirs, especially if you
are offering them information, news and/or easy access
to special offers and promotions.
