Why Would I want ID Protect?

With ID Protect the main advantage is that it can reduce the number of spam emails you may receive. Spammers harvest contact information electronically from the public WhoIs database and then use that information to send unsolicited and unwanted emails. When you sign up for this feature, your visible email address is randomly generated and constantly changing so you will receive less of these undesired emails. The Domain Privacy Protection Service secures and maintains your real email address on file so you receive important information regarding your domain name.

If my information is hidden, how do I know the name is mine?

If you ever need to prove ownership of a domain name we can temporarily disable the protection on your domain name. You can then ask the verifying party to view the information and then contact us and we will re-enable the ID Protection once more.
