550-Verification failed for Print

  • 0

If you get the odd email rejected and the errors include these lines in your email header.

> 550-Verification failed for
> 550-No Such User Here
> 550 Sender verify failed

you are probably usingyour local ISP email server as your SMTP email setting  - it should be set to mail.yourwebsite.com

Some receiving mail servers are paranoid (a good thing) and they want to verify that the email address exists at the sending email server. If you are sending through somebodyelse.com's email server there is no way for the paranoid email receiver to verify that [email protected] exists because it does not exist at somebodyelse.com.

The paranoid email receiving server is just trying to reduce spam because many spammers want to send spam through 3rd party servers instead of their own. Email services have been forced to get paranoid in self defence against those spammers. Not all email servers are paranoid and that explains why most emails get through but the odd one does not.

Change your SMTP setting to mail.yourwebsite.com

If you changed your SMTP setting and emails don't work at all - change your settings to match what you see here.

This will get around your local ISP's block of SMTP port #25
